Pura is the wife of a past Phantom.
Fictional Character Biography
According to the Newspaper strip
Pura was the daughter of a maharajah in India. She was supposed to marry sultan Mamoud ben Al'lina, a close fiend of the 3rd Phantom. However, she did not want to marry the old sultan and instead, she fell in love with the 3rd Phantom. The 3rd Phantom also loved Pura but felt the loyalty against his friend. It took a love drug to make him ignore his feelings of loyalty. Through some controversy with the sultan, they got married with his blessings and got Alexander the Great's Diamond Cup as a wedding present.
According to Team Fantomen
The 3rd Phantom married Rosamunda before he became the Phantom but she was poisoned after she had given birth to the future 4th Phantom. Therefore, the 3rd Phantom came to marry Pura in 1610.
Behind the scennes
Lee Falk has at different times pointed out different Phantoms as being married to the daughter of a maharajah and originally, he claimed Rosamunda was married to the 3rd Phantom. However, later stories seem to indicate that the 3rd Phantom indeed married Rosamunda and that it was someone else who married Pura.
