"The Gibs Brothers" is the 40th Phantom Sunday story. It was originally published in American newspapers from March 6th to April 3rd, 1955.

The story was written by Lee Falk and drawn by Wilson McCoy. It is the shortest Phantom Sunday story ever made.

Plot Summary

Mr. Walker (The Phantom) goes to a bar and orders a glass of milk. The other guests at the bar laugh at him and think that he is not a real man. Suddenly a man runs in to the bar, yelling that the Gibs brothers are coming and everyone quickly leaves the bar, except mr. Walker.

The Gibs brothers enter the bar and become a little bit angry when they realize that someone has warned the guests at the bar that they were coming. They break some stuff in retalliation of that and then asks the barman for the regular payment for their "protection". Mr Walker interferes at this point and tells the barman to not pay, since it would be stupid.

The Gibs brothers becomes angry at him because he dares utter objections to them and a fight starts which they quickly lose. Mr. Walker then orders them to clean up the mess they have caused. The Gibs brothers are like peaceful lambs while mr. Walker finishes his milk and then leaves. The barman asks what the returning guests want and get the unison answer: Milk.
