The Phantom - L'Ombra che cammina is an Italian book, published in 2003, written by Alessandro Tesauro and entirely devoted to The Phantom.

This is the volume 7 amongst 11 similar books composing a series entitled "Collana Le Grandi Opere" (Collection Great Works), all others devoted to Italian home-made comics apart one of them: volume 10 concerning "Mandrake the Magician", also wriiten by Alessandro Tesauro.

The book has four distinct parts :

  • 1) a text about the story of the character by his creator Lee Falk and the main artists having drawn it through the years.
  • 2) articles about the various Italian publishers of "L'Uomo Mascherato" (The Phantom).
  • 3) a chronological list of the original daily and the Sunday strips, completed by a list of Italian publications.
  • 4) reproductions of Italian covers.

Apart the Alessandro Tesauro's writing, a introduction entitled "Il miracolo dell'Ombra" is written by Sergio Bonelli.
