For the third time, a truly Scandinavian gathering with Peter from Denmark among the attending.
Also for the third time the meeting was held at the premises of one of the members, this time in the basement hobby-room of the house where member Lars-Olof Hansson lives.
Already on the way down to the room one could feel the mysterious world around “The Phantom” with its cellar-vault, giving just the right atmosphere for us Phantom fans. Is this his Swedish, so far, “unknown hide-out”?
Only Mr. Walker has the answer…
The meeting started by Brian welcoming everybody to the SC’s eleventh event. The present members then introduced themselves to each other.
A lively discussion took place regarding the rights to sell goodie bags following the recent debate on the chapters mailing list, and resulted in a unanimously decision not to allow any members to sell goodie bags what so ever. A relief was felt in the room to be able to put this matter behind us. Some members who brought for them valuable phantom art effects etc presented those, such as Brian Jensen’s Big Little Book, a little comic-book from 1936 (one of totally 6 produced with the Phantom) or Peter Lovdal Egelunds “Phantom skull-ring” a replica of the ring used in the latest movie, which he got from a friend who visited the Cannes film-festival the same year as the film was presented. Furthermore Arne Olins Phantom-tie from 1954. We also looked at a very special postcard, owned by Rolf Svensson, “Mr Walker running”. It is special because Mr. Walker was cut out completely in cardboard and although it had been forwarded by mail nothing was destroyed, it looked as new. Finally another crazy item “The Phantom backscratcher” a wooden phantom figure belonging to Björn Harnby. We also had time to exchange items between each other. As always a very valuable and appreciated goodiebag was given to all present at the meeting.
During the meeting refreshment was served by the club.
After a couple of hours honorary member Claes Reimerthi showed up and a very interesting session took place, lots of questions and exchange of views, it was really a couple of hours to remember by all present, ending with Claes Reimerthi signing members material. A memorable line from Claes during this was “I wish I was an artist right now, they have a lot cooler signatures than I do!!”
Now a walk about 15 minutes took place through the old cultural part of Lund to a small atmospheric restaurant called Bellman where a nice dinner was waiting and further informal talks.
