A cold Saturday morning a lonely Phantom phan from Stockholm went on a buss to Kristinehamn for once again have a meeting with the Scandinavian Chapter of the Lee Falk Memorial Bengali Explorers Club. In Örebro member Jan-Ola joined the trip and about one hour later the meeting officially started in Kristinehamn. It began with a short break and Phantom discussions (of course) at home at the local Phantom editor, while we were waiting for the last member, Hans-Erik, to arrive.

When Hans-Erik arrived he hardly had the chance to say hello to the rest of us before we started the program of the day and went away to Kristinehamns archipelago to see the famous Picasso sculpture. We all walked around the monument and some of us collected nice stones to bring home while other were more interested in throwing stones out on the ice of Vänern. After taking photos from all different angels we finally find an external photographer so we all for once could be on the same picture. We also had our lunch out at the cape. The local café served delicious sandwiches together with well needed coffee. After studying a pink Cadillac the trip went further to Kristinehamns folk high school, to among other things see where the embryo to the Scandinavian chapter first saw the light of day.

Brian showed us around and presented us to some of  the computers that wants his attention during the hours he works there and also involonterally managed to scare the living sh*t out of a bunch of dance students that couldn’t imagine that someone else would be there on a weekend. That scream will stay in the walls for years. Walking trough the corridors we finally entered a classroom equipped with a projector and using that, Brian had a lecture about” fantomen.com – behind the screen”. It was interesting to see how he is working with the site an also to see some statistics about visitors and voters etc.

When the first parts of the outdoor activities ended we went back to Brian for coffee and cake and even tough we thought we had a lot of time the discussions about the phantom, listening on a phantom related radio interview with Brian and the showing of drool objects made the time fly so we really had to hurry to the next part of the program.
Probably the most non-Phantom activity ever on a Scandinavian chapter meeting - Bowling. Hans-Erik hadn’t played since 1998 and Jan-Ola had never played before at all and didn’t really want to try either. How these two members could be so good at bowling is more than the rest of us could understand. They really know the game. At the Bowling center MagicBowl they also serve a delicious taco buffet and that was exactly what we needed after all the sport. The discussions during the dinner more turned in to the Da Vinci code than the Phantom but that’s a mistake we repaired later.

After the food we went back to Brian and he showed us his collection that was much more organized this time than the last time we saw it. He also generously shared some of it to the rest of us. The evening went on with milk and snacks and American stand up comedy and exactly like the last time we visited Kristinehamn Jan-Ola and I managed to leave Brian so late we had to run to the buss in the middle of the night. After about one hour Jan-Ola went of in Örebro and around six o’clock a cold Sunday morning a lonely Phantom phan went of the buss in Stockholm.
