Once again it was time for the members of the Scandinavian chapter of LFMBEC to meet and as always the September dinner were held in Gothenburg because of the Book and Library exhibition. The last day of the exhibition is a bit of a comic Sunday with a lot of comic artists attending to sign there new books, so that’s a big day for all members of the Scandinavian chapter.

The day started early to catch the happy hour entrance price and once we got in we of course went straight to Egmont. The thought was to buy all three new Phantom books but that was an impossible dream. The Sy Barry book was still in Malmö and Phantom Chronicle 4 were sold out. Infact I bought the two last chronicles they had. Even the ties were sold out. Luckily there was enough of the 1950 year book so no one became empty handed. Egmont also had a lot of other new books so even though it wasn't as much Phantom as expected you could spend some money and get some autographs anyway.

Finished at Egmont we discovered the mistake to start with all that shopping. It was heavy to carry all those books around all day.

We went on to the other comic exhibitions and saw original drawings, got fanzines, talked to people in the business and started to wonder were the rest of the members from Scandinavian chapter were. We found them nearby Egmont and saw Brian and Bosse walking around in their new shirts advertising the chapter. After another round through the exhibition it was time to meet all the other members at Hotel Aveny.

After a long day at the exhibition it was nice to sit down in the hotel conference room with sandwiches and a coup of coffee. When everybody had introduced himself or herself and those who wanted had shown something from their collection it was time for the main event, a seminar by Claes Reimerthi, long time Phantom author. He had planed that his seminar would take about 45 minutes but he talked for almost two hours. Claes told us about his work as a phantom author, how he joined Team Phantom and how it is to work with the American Sunday strips. He also told us about comic writing in general and the difference between good and bad comic story telling. It was a great seminar and I don't think anyone thought it was to long. It was a surprise even to Claes that had been talking for such a extensive time so unfortunately he had to rush away very quick. That was sad because everybody who wanted something signed didn't get it but I’m sure he will visit us again sometime.

After the lecture it was time for the actual chapter meeting with goodiebags and information. We discussed what we could do to make the mailing list better and why some members have decided to leave the chapter. There was also an auction were Moonstone Phantom books signed by Ben Raab were sold.

After the meeting all members went down to a nearby restaurant and had some dinner and continued to discuss Phantom matters. Those who were able to stay after the dinner went on to a pub and had a couple of bears and further discussions. To soon some of us had to break up to catch the last buss to Stockholm and try to get some hours sleep before it was time to go to work at Monday morning.
